We are located near the Equator, so weather is relatively consistent throughout the year. Sunshine alternates with typical equatorial rain showers and occasional thunderstorms.
Days are generally hot and humid, while evenings tend to be a bit cooler and more pleasant. November and December are usually the wettest months, although changing weather patterns can make forecasts less predictable.
Any time of the year is suitable. Nature, island life, and warm ocean temperatures are constant, making the Mentawai Islands a great destination for relaxation, exploration, and slowing down, no matter the season.
Weather patterns can vary, but the islands maintain their tropical rhythm all year long.
Surfers:
The main swell season is June-September, when waves are more frequent and powerful. This period also sees more activity, although the Mentawai Islands remain uncrowded compared to most surf destinations worldwide.
The shoulder months, January-May and October often offer excellent conditions as well: fewer people, pleasant weather, and good surf days mixed with calmer periods.
November and December are definitely the less crowded period, less swells, smaller and forgiving waves. Perfect for learning.

Absolutely. In fact, most of our surf guests are intermediate surfers who prefer fun and forgiving waves rather than heavy ones. In our area there is a wide variety of breaks suitable for different abilities, and we find that size is never a problem. When waves are small to medium, there are plenty of playful waves. When waves get bigger, other spots start to work, so finding manageable conditions is rarely a problem.
This makes the Mentawai Islands an excellent destination for intermediate surfers looking to progress, enjoy quality waves, and surf without constant pressure or crowds.
Yes, we do. We operate two small boats and run surf trips daily to a variety of surf spots, depending on conditions and guest preferences.

All surfers are required to pay a local Surf Tax of Idr 2.000.000 to the Mentawai Tourism Office. Usually upon arrival at the harbour you will be approached and asked whether you surf, and required to pay the Tax directly. If you are not travelling with a surfboard you might not be asked by the Tourism officer.
We offer diverse range of activities: Surf lessons, Snorkelling Tours, Trekkings in the nearby jungle, and Day Spa treatments.
